Conference Chair Elect

DHP shadow conference chair - Lucy Hackshaw

Committee role:

As the shadow conference chair for 2010, I work alongside / assist the conference chair and will be taking on the rolling role of national conference chair for the 2011 and 2012 annual conferences. The DHP national conference chair co-chairs the Division’s Annual Conference which is held each year in September. I will therefore be involved in all aspects of a conference, from being on the scientific committee to managing the budget, to liaising with many different people in health psychology, the BPS and where the conference is being held.

Job title at place of work:

PhD researcher and health psychologist in training, University of Bath

I am currently in the final year of a full time PhD in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences, at the University of Bath. My Cancer Research UK funded research explores the implications of smoke-free legislation for NHS stop smoking services. My research is rooted in the field of health psychology and public health, focusing on health promotion and health prevention, as well as exploring the services available to the service user and the implication of the smoke-free policy. In addition to this I am currently completing my BPS Stage 2 doctorate qualification in Health Psychology. My other research interests include psycho-social implications of cancer, health policy and interventions to reduce health inequalities.
