Chair

   

Chair - Dr. Neil Coulson

During my year as Chair of the DHP, my role includes:

  • chairing DHP committee meetings
  • providing a lead on Divisional strategy and ensuring continuity with the chair elect
  • liaising and working with chairs of subcommittees, to oversee actions in pursuit of our strategic objectives
  • representing the Division at Rep Council and BPS committees
  • joint work with colleagues in other Divisions
  • receiving and disseminating information for the benefit of members

Job title at place of work:

Associate Professor of Health Psychology, School of Community Health Sciences, University of Nottingham.

I am the Course Director for the new Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology which started in September 2011 as well as being the Director of Postgraduate Research Degrees for the School of Community Health Sciences. I am also a member of the executive management group for the Institute of Work, Health & Organisations.

My area of research interest is currently concerned with the role of online support communities for individuals either a) coping with a long term illness or b) attempting to engage in behaviour change e.g. smoking cessation, weight-loss.
