Chair Elect

Chair Elect - Dr. Alision Wearden

As Chair Elect, I shadow the activities of the current chair, Di Harcourt. I am also a member of the Research and Practitioner sub-committees.

Job title at place of work:

Reader in Psychology

I am an academic (registered and chartered) Health Psychologist. My research is on the management of chronic illness, particularly chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), and I have recently completed a large treatment trial of a pragmatic rehabilitation treatment for CFS/ME. Currently, I am involved in a trial of a healthy living intervention for people recovering from recent onset psychosis. I have an interest in the role of interpersonal relationships in physical and mental health conditions, particularly from the perspectives of Expressed Emotion and attachment theory.
