Division of Health Psychology : Scotland
Who we are and what we do…

DHP-Scotland, the Scottish Branch of the Division of Health Psychology, held its first Annual General Meeting on 25th February 2004. Since then we have held three AGM's and Scientific Meetings, where we have welcomed a range of speakers on many aspects of health and health psychology from across the UK.  We also hold three additional meetings of the DHP-Scotland Committee every year.  Our general aims are to promote health psychology and support health psychologists working across Scotland.  All DHP members living in Scotland automatically become members of DHP-Scotland.

The Committee includes members from across Scotland, and includes health psychologists working in the NHS and in academia.  We also have two postgraduate representatives on the Committee and any students studying health psychology at postgraduate level are encouraged to make contact and to attend our meetings.  We also aim to hold special events for Postgraduates from time to time. One of our major successes has been developing a pilot of NHS funded, 2 years full-time Stage 2 training posts for health psychologists,  working on the Scottish Government's health improvement targets, which start in January 2008. We are also currently working to establish a seconded post for a health psychologist  in the Scottish Government.

Our next Annual General Meeting and Scientific Meeting will be held at the Lister Institute, University of Edinburgh, on Friday 7th March 2008 from 1.30 onwards. The Annual General Meeting (DHP Members only) will be followed by talks from Dr Martin Hagger (University of Nottingham and DHP-UK Chair), Professor John Weinman, (Kings College, London),  Professor Marie Johnston, (University of Aberdeen),  and Professor Phil Hanlon (University of Glasgow).

All are welcome to attend.
