The workshop is being facilitated by Dr Lance McCracken, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead of the Bath Pain Management Unit. Places are limited, and priority will be given to members of the MHPN. If places are not filled by 1st October, the event will be be opened to non-members.

REFLECTIVE PRACTICE AND REFLEXIVITY IN RESEARCH

The first half of this one-day workshop will introduce reflective practice, and look at different functions of reflection, and how we might apply it effectively in practice. It will then look at some of the reflexive strategies one might employ throughout the research process (from designing the question, recruiting participants, through to analysis and dissemination). The workshop is open to all Chartered Health Psychologists, but places are limited.

Dealing with hypoglycaemia

Building on the experience and feedback from successive Diabetes UK psychological wellbeing and diabetes conferences, guided by the Psychological Aspects of Diabetes Group we are introducing two workshops which aim to improve the knowledge and skills of health professionals in delivering psychological care to people with diabetes.
The workshops aim to provide healthcare professionals with increased knowledge and practical skills to take back to their local care settings, and to offer a networking opportunity for those attending these events.
The day will cover topics such as:
• What are the psychological issues around hypoglycaemia
• Evidence from the front line
• Strategies in psychological assessment
• The latest treatment approaches
