Freelance Work Opportunity for Psychology Graduates at Child Potential Profiling

If you are psychology graduate with experience of the WISC and/or British Ability Scales, you may be interested in registering to work with Child Potential Profiling – visit www.ChildPotential.co.uk for more info.

Child Potential Profiling aims to provide low-cost WISC and/or British Ability Scales (BAS) assessments in order to help parents and schools develop a better understanding of a child's potential. Associate psychologists (including Assistant Psychologists, Trainees etc.) will administer the assessments while interpretation and report-writing will be done centrally under the supervision of Chartered Psychologists.

This is not a service aimed at children requiring a specialist Clinical or Educational Psychology assessment - it is for anyone wanting to know more about a child's potential, learning style, strengths and weaknesses, and whether additional input would be appropriate.

In order to provide the service, a network of test administrators working on a freelance basis is needed – if you might want to be part of this (now or in the future), visit www.ChildPotential.co.uk/associates.htm

  The DHP is Seeking Specialists!

The Publicity and Liaison Sub-Committee of the Division of Health Psychology is seeking specialists in any area of health psychology for inclusion on the list of specialist knowledge commentators. This is a panel of DHP members who are consulted by the Chair of Consultation and Specialist Knowledge to comment on calls for consultations from health-related initiatives.

The Division is frequently asked to comment on such initiatives related to health policy, promotion, education, and research. These calls are usually issued by governmental services such as the National Health Service (NHS) or Department of Health (DoH), independent organisations responsible for standards in health, such as the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), independent reports compiled on behalf of the government (e.g., the Cooksey review of UK Health Research), and even international organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Chair of Consultation and Specialist Knowledge to co-ordinates responses on behalf of the Division and will contact specialists asking them to comment on the content of the call and its implications for practice and research in health psychology. These responses are important to Division whose remit is to represent the interests of health psychology professionals in the UK. Members on the list will gain useful first-hand knowledge of recent health issues relevant to health psychologists and will be providing an important service to health psychology in the UK. Members’ contributions are acknowledged in the responses made to the BPS and the organisation making the call.

Members interested in being included in the list should contact Martin Hagger, Chair of Consultation and Specialist Knowledge, Publicity and Liaison Sub-Committee of the Division of Health Psychology by email (martin.hagger@nottingham.ac.uk) or telephone 0115 8467929 stating their interest, giving a brief resume of their background in health psychology, and stating their area(s) of interest.
