UK Society for Behavioural Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting

(incorporating the National Prevention Research Initiative Annual Scientific Meeting)

6th and 7th Jan 2009

Exeter

We are now calling for abstracts with a deadline of June 6th 2008, and abstract submission forms are available from www.uksbm.org.uk. Please also feel free to use the flyer from the website as a poster and to pass on this message to relevant colleagues.

Behavioural medicine includes prevention research (e.g. tackling obesity, smoking cessation) and health promotion. It includes supporting self care and coping in the management of long term conditions. It includes the application of psychological theories and behaviour change techniques to the design and evaluation of interventions to understanding and changing key health behaviours. It includes the management of stress and psychological morbidity. It also includes Implementation science (the science of changing health professional behaviours).

Hence, our meeting may be relevant to a wide range of health professionals and researchers and we strongly seek to encourage inter-disciplinary working. I therefore hope to see you at the forthcoming meeting.
